Contrast Photography was first established in the mid 1980s by Nancy Alford as a new freelance photography business.

With help from the Princes Trust in 1998 the business branched out into taking informal children's portraits. A workshop was put together in the attic of an old Manor House in Hillsborough, Sheffield, and slowly the business grew.

Since then Contrast Photography has built up a steady client base of growing families who are visited once a year for their annual photographs.

Other work has also been undertaken in this time for the Princes Trust, SIS Office Solutions, the Apex Challenge, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Trust, Sheffield University, Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus and others.
